About Glory Ride

Gino Bartali, Tour de France winner and one of the most beloved Italian athletes of all time, had a secret life.

With his cycling career as a cover, Bartali cycled thousands of miles between cities across Italy. Hidden in the frame of his bike were falsified identity cards and other secret documents to help victims of the Second World War cross borders to safety from Mussolini’s fascist regime. His efforts saved hundreds of persecuted Jews and other refugees, many of whom were children.

Bartali was a local hero as well as a national figurehead, renowned in his community for his unwavering commitment to helping others. His story has a powerful message for audiences today about bravery, loyalty and doing the right thing regardless of the consequences.

Directed by Olivier-winner Kelly Devine, GLORY RIDE has been developed through workshops in New York and Los Angeles as well as a series of sold-out staged concerts in London last year at The Other Palace.

Don’t miss this chance to experience this incredible true story combining heist, history, humour, and humanity with a soaring new score by father and daughter team, Victoria and Todd Buchholz.

Brilliant, Enchanting, Uplifting, Incredible, Mesmerising

See it if You like theatre that makes you cry, makes you laugh, and inspires you not by preaching but through the story and the characters

Don’t see it if You don’t want to think. This show really takes you on a journey, but if you just tune out and wait for the next song, it’s easy to miss.

Underrated, Emotional, Original, Uplifting, Inspiring

See it if You like new ideas, new songs, and non-cliche characters. This is the best new musical I've seen since Come From Away...and this is better.

Don’t see it if You want to see or hear something familiar. This isn't based on a movie, doesn't have a soundtrack, and doesn't have a celebrity involved.

Thrilling, Joyous, Riveting, Emotional, Brilliant

See it if You like shows about ordinary heroes, you like to think for yourself instead of being told/preached to, you like cycling or great songs

Don’t see it if You want a show that plays on pity or common tropes. There’s nothing common or cliche about Glory Ride. It’s a unique and refreshing show.

Enchanting, Great writing, Inspiring, Brilliant, Riveting

See it if You like a hero's journey with brilliant lyrics, catchy melodies, and fascinating characters based on true people who did amazing things

Don’t see it if You want something you've seen or heard before. This is literally quite possibly the most original show in London right now
